A Huge Splash of Colour for a Town in Lockdown

Leamington's first Mural Festival is a mapped trail which people can follow to find and view various pieces of street art along the way.

The trail has been curated by BRINK with their raft of talented artists.

BRINK are a Midlands based Contemporary Arts organisation that aims to raise awareness of Contemporary Art with a focus on Graffiti Art and Street Art. I first came across BRINK when I saw photos of their work in and around Coventry and at the Godiva Festival, but I had not photographed any of their work myself until I attended their "Paint in the yard" event in Leamington.

Starting the trail centrally on its map at the Court Street car park it was a very pleasant walk to and from each of the artworks many of which sit alongside the Grand Union Canal that runs to the South of the Town.

It was a very dull uninspiring grey day with very flat light conditions so seeing the brightly coloured artworks was a welcome sight that certainly lifted the lockdown spirits. Purely because of this very early into the walk, I was ignoring the less than ideal photographic conditions just turning my eye to shooting the vibrancy and tones of each work. This also was my train of thought with the composition and then final editing of my shots which I just tweaked the levels up a bit with a little sympathetic cropping here and there.

I will be visiting the trail again over the course of its duration, and I will be keeping up to speed with Brink and will be shooting any new works when they are added. So please check back in on this this post and its gallery to see the new additions and further shots as and when I visit.
